For many years shoppers have used the Internet to shop for hard goods. In the early days, Amazon made it easy to purchase books as well as electronics online. Many of us used the Internet to purchase computers directly from the manufacturers like Dell and Gateway. Now it has come to our attention that the tide is changing for consumer shopping habits online. Dianna Dilworth at DMNews reported today that the apparel, accessories and footwear categories totaled $18.3 billion in 2006, as reported in the "State of Retailing Online 2007" report published by Shop.org.
This trend is not too surprising. Computers are now commodity products, which have penetrated a majority of households in the US. How often does anyone need a new computer? For the hardcore computer users, I suppose it is a lot more frequently than I do. I recently replaced my old laptop after 5 years. I still cannot believe that it lasted that long.
On the other hand, I tend to shop for clothes a little more frequently. I am not someone I would call a fashionista, but I certainly do like updating my wardrobe with a few items now and then. With the price of new computers dropping to all time lows (less than $500 for a decent desktop); I can easily outspend this in one year on clothes.
So, it is not surprising that apparel has surpassed computer spending. In fact, we all need clothes - it is the law. Happy shopping!

Everyone has different goals for their computers, as well as different price ranges. In reality, PCs are not near as expensive. Just remember that when you acquire an IBM, Dell, Gateway or Toshiba, that you remember to attain some good antivirus software for Windows as well.

It's understandable that money makes people independent. But how to act if one has no money? The only one way is to try to get the business loans or student loan.
